I will be eternally grateful to Dr. Zhang for being such a crucial part of my breast cancer journey. The idea of having a mastectomy with immediate DIEP flap reconstruction was terrifying at first, but she quickly eased my fears. Dr. Zhang reassured me that she would use the nipple-sparing method and also do balancing surgery on the other breast. Plus, she made the abdominal incision low so it wouldn’t be easily visible. It was clear she cared about how I felt, both mentally and physically. Thanks to her exceptional microsurgery skills, just 3 days later, my abdominal incision was perfect, and my new breasts were perfectly symmetrical. My cancer journey could have been more traumatic if it weren’t for Dr. Zhang and her incredible team.
